In 1985, Steve Jobs found himself ousted from Apple, the very company he co-founded and transformed into a technology powerhouse. Despite his visionary leadership, Apple’s board felt his intense approach was disruptive, ultimately voting him out of his own organization. But Jobs wasn’t one to stand still. He went on to establish NeXT, a tech company that allowed him to refine his ideas and develop groundbreaking technology.
Meanwhile, Apple began to struggle, experiencing significant losses in the mid-1990s, including nearly $700 million in a single quarter. Desperate for a turnaround, Apple decided in 1996 to acquire NeXT for $429 million. But this acquisition was more than just a purchase of technology – it marked Jobs’ return to the company he had once led.
By 1997, Jobs was back at the helm, and over the next decade, he transformed Apple from a struggling business into a global technology leader. With innovations like the iPhone, Apple became the most valuable brand in the world, generating over $1 billion per quarter at its peak. This wasn’t just a comeback; it was a masterclass in leadership and vision.
