On Oct. 14, 2023, an annular, or “ring of fire,” solar eclipse passed over parts of North, Central, and South America. An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. Unlike in a total solar eclipse, where the Moon covers up the Sun completely, the Moon is just distant enough during an annular eclipse to allow a thin bright ring of Sun to shine through.
This clip shows the ring of fire as it passes over Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our 2023 annular eclipse show featured live views from California to Texas, interviews with scientists and NASA astronauts, and a sneak preview at the total solar eclipse set to cross over North America in April 2024. Е, за един човек това наистина се случило! 😲 През 1922 г. фермерът Чарлз Озбърн се опитвал да претегли прасе от фермата си, когато претърпял инцидент и паднал. Той не усетил нищо, освен... че започнал да хълца. Нищо нередно, нали? 😅 Може би щеше да е така, ако хълцането не продължило цели 68 години. Твърди се, че Чарлз имал средно между 20 и 40 хълцания на минута, или близо 420 милиона през целия му живот. 🤯Най-дългата „почивка“ на мъжа била 50 часа, в които не хълцал. Според лекари причината за странното състояние на Озбърн бил малък спукан кръвоносен съд в мозъка му. 🧠 Въпреки всичко мъжът успял да живее пълноценно и да създаде семейство. Хълцанията пък спрели през 1990 г., година преди Чарлз Озбърн да почине.
